The newest entry is “I Am The Drop And The Ocean” ($20 in paperback from Conscious Dreams Publishing; also for Amazon Kindle). Pullenza’s stunningly colorful pictures capture the eye as readers are drawn into the dreams of a child—very unusual dreams.
“A faint rhythm is tapping/ Upon my rooftop/ A song softly sung/ By delicate raindrops…. My eyes close/ My mind is set free/ I am a drop of rain/ On a journey/ Back to the sea.” The young narrator finds friends of all kinds in all the other drops, and when they finally drop to the earth “I wasn’t gone—not at all/ I was becoming one with the friends/ I met during the fall.”
“Becoming one” means not just becoming part of a stream, but being the stream itself. “As the sun rose and fell/ Over and over again/ Many ‘other’ streams round me/ I welcomed them in.” The waters begin to surge and suddenly, a giant waterfall, “Infinite drops/ Forming an endless sea….”
And there in the clouds, all the many friends, people, birds and butterflies, dogs and dinosaurs. An infinite world within a drop of water. “As I awaken/ I am alive with wonder/ Filled with awe…/ How could something so big/ Fit inside something so small?”
Shelton and Pullenza are holding a two-day celebration of the launch of “I Am The Drop And The Ocean” and the completion of the Journey Collection (including “Hey Tree, What Should I Be?”, “Imagine A World”; and “Just Be”).
The first, featuring book signings, kids’ painting, food and community, is Saturday, November 7, noon until 3:00 p.m. at The Commons, 2412 Park Avenue.
The second, with the theme “Am I part of something bigger?”, includes refreshments, “singing bowls, coloring and connection,” will be November 8 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Chico Holistic Wellness Center, 287 Rio Lindo Avenue.
